We were sent some interesting data regarding marriages in England in 2013 by The Wedding Secret. Before the end of the year is nigh and we fall into 2014, we felt it a great time to share this wedding infographic – England Weddings 2013.
As expected there are some wedding trends that remain the same, but the research documented some interesting changes in public perception of weddings and certain traditions since the 1900’s.
Most weddings still occur on Saturday and we think this will continue to be the case for a long time.
Summer weddings are still huge though Spring weddings followed closely behind.
North Yorkshire was the 4th most popular part of England to get married in – we think this is definitely because of the abundance of stunning venues and stunning scenery in Yorkshire!
The average age of couples getting married has increased to couples in their 30’s.
Interestingly civil ceremonies dominated the charts above all other types of ceremonies this year. This is a trend we expect to see increasing as more venues apply for their licences and couples decide on a more flexible way of getting married. If as a couple, you are hoping to get married outside, you still need to have a ‘legal’ civil ceremony at the town hall first! We have seen a rise in weddings occuring in forests, fields, gardens and many other outdoor spaces as couples try and set the scene for their perfect day or indeed perfect wedding weekend!
