Please come behind the scenes of this perfect Yorkshire Papakata teepee wedding from last summer!
Jane and Matthew are both avid vegans and it was extremely important to them to incorporate their approach to life in their wedding day plans. Not only was it important for us to ensure the food and drink elements of their wedding were vegan, but we also worked hard to minimise the impact on the environment especially when it came to their flowers – we used a great local supplier of wild flowers that were picked the day before.
We are big believers in encouraging our couples to make their wedding day unique to them – you don’t have to follow traditions if you don’t want to!! Jane and Matthew weren’t comfortable having a first dance, so they didn’t have one. Jane wanted to walk down the aisle with Matthew, so they did! By removing the parts of the day that created anxiety, we created a relaxed, perfect day for them both and they really were such a pleasure to work with.
Jane and Matthew got married under the canvas of the teepee surrounded by their guests seated on haybales from a local farmer. In true Yorkshire fashion, it rained just as Jane made her way into the teepee with Matthew! With the views of the beautiful Escrick park as their ceremony backdrop, the rain just added to the atmosphere.
Guests were then treated to a champagne and canape reception followed by Mushroom and Black Sheep Ale Puff pastry pie and chips during the wedding breakfast. Knowing how nervous Jane and Matthew were to serve only Vegan food at their wedding the best part was the positive reaction from their guests. The pie went down a storm!
Jane and Matthew’s day was filled with laughter in the form of a stand up comedian and some crazy dancing in the evening. It certainly was a day to remember and the rain even subsided for the evening entertainment!
