On today’s blog, we wanted to inject some warmth into this rather chilly spring day by sharing Izzy & Norman’s gorgeous Chinese Heritage inspired wedding – these photos are from the fabulous Samantha Ward – Fine Art Photographer.

Izzy & Norman are a fun and creative couple who wanted their wedding to be a relaxed celebration with their close friends and family. Izzy & Norman’s wedding was full of beautiful Chinese details including pretty patterned runners, Chinese knots that we used as napkin rings and even a photobooth backdrop adorned with traditional chinese paper umbrellas.

Izzy & Norman were married at St George’s Church in York in an intimate service, Norman even sang to his beautiful new wife during the service. Following the ceremony Izzy & Norman lead guests a short walk across the road to the National Centre for Early Music . After extensive searches for a venue that suited all of our requirements, we settled on the  NCEM due to its character, history and it’s fantastic outdoor space. We were planning on good weather from the beginning of the wedding planning process but in the case of bad weather we were able to use the Grade Listed I church building to host the wedding reception.

Flowers
The beautiful flowers for Izzy & Norman’s wedding were created by the talented ladies at Leafy Couture. Izzy wanted a different vibe for her bouquet and for the ceremony flowers; her favourite colours are purples and pinks so Sarah created a bouquet of stocks, peonies, amnesia roses, freesia and eucalyptus. The wedding reception flowers followed the colours traditional to Izzy and Norman’s Chinese heritage; blue and white. We decided to have a selection of Tall arrangements of hand tied blue and white hydrangeas, and short arrangements included the most incredible smelling white rose, white and blue hydrangeas, white stocks and succulents. Every guest was also given an individually potted succulent to take with them as a gift.

The Fashion:

Izzy hired her incredible dress from a supplier in China because she didn’t have a lot of time to find the perfect dress in the UK. Izzy decided to change in to a modern style cheongsam hand embroidered dress for her wedding reception. The dress was an exquisite piece of art work let alone a fabulous reception dress, and the best thing about it is that Izzy can easily wear it again for a special occasion. Izzy’s makeup and hair was created by Natalie Willingham – her calm presence on a wedding morning will always be welcome at Eden & Eve weddings!

Norman looked dapper in his bespoke suit and we love the fact he decided to go against wearing a tie – it suited their wedding perfectly!

To keep in line with the informal feel of Izzy & Norman’s day, we enlisted Bradshaws of York to create a posh barbecue followed by an assiette of summery miniature desserts which ended the meal perfectly. Later in the afternoon we were joined by Penguino of York, an ice cream trike which supplied guests with free flowing, delicious Yorkshire Ice cream.
